The Take-Over is Complete! and Hudson's Day

Mrs. Gronlund's two week classroom take over is complete.

What a wonderful ride it has been! We've gone on a two week butterfly adventure based on Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The students made butterflies from coffee filters, caterpillars from egg cartons, and charted the four stages in the life cycle of butterflies from egg to caterpillar to cocoon to adult butterfly. They classified foods into the basic food groups: healthy and junk.

Previous posts have gone over this pretty well.

Today the unit of study culminated with a poetry recital featuring the now memorized poem about Five Caterpillars. Many parents were in attendance as we closed out the unit on butterflies.

Mrs. Gronlund has asked me to tell you all how touched she was to receive the flowers and the card with the gift certificate that you got for her in commemoration of her take over. A memory that will last a life time!

The last moments of the take over

I present Mrs. Gronlund the bouquet you bought her.

A moment she will long remember

Saying goodbye till Monday.
Kindergarten is so sweet.

It was Hudson's day today and he brought a ukulele to share. I could not stop myself and came out of the quiet room to sing a song with the ukulele. I'll be back a lot more starting on Monday.....

For all of you coming to the 140th party tomorrow, see you then!
